Solo or one of the children may also have opened the door, while someone inside could have fired at the drone. That would explain the gunfire without requiring either traveler to absorb every shot.

Gus used diamond drill bits in his black-market operation, while decades of bulbs and other equipment have disappeared from Critical Supply. Glenda can also move between the mines and Supply faster than the main staircase should allow. Together, those clues point toward a hidden project that requires cutting equipment, power, light and a route outside the silo’s monitored areas.

Charlotte may also demand access because she no longer wants other people deciding which parts of her life she is allowed to remember.
